6th grade radial color theory paintings

6th grade painting

Sonia Delauney, an artist who loved geometric shapes and bold color combinations and patterns, was the inspiration artist for our 6th Grade painting project. Each student designed and painted a pattern of circles and lines in a color scheme they chose. We used great care to make our edges smooth and used tints and shades to give our paintings depth. Students told us they learned so much about acrylic painting! One student commented, "This project taught me patience." So true! This class is a joy to teach. --Mrs. Paradis

8th Grade Color Wheel Eyes

8th grade Animal Mixed Media

8th grade once again amazed us!  They created a head and body print then exchanged with their classmates.  Adding a fun background students ended up creating surreal scenes that were out of this world!! Great job 8th Grade!!

 

6th Grade Ming Dynasty

6th grade students recently learned about ancient China in social studies class. In art we studied the Ming Dynasty and examined the unique geography of China. Students then created ther own vases in the Ming style and painted a background showing the landscape. Great work! 

8th grade animal paintings

Students examined the work of John Nieto and have been painting animals in his style. Look at their works in progress. Please check back for their progress.

3rd Grade- Dragons!

Wow! Great work 3rd grade! After reading the poem "Dragon on the Playground" students created their own dragon! They focused on controling their paint and did a great job cleaning up. 

8th Grade Color Wheels

8th grade advanced art is reviewing their color mixing by creating a colorwheel. Students will then start a final painting project which we will introduce next week. 

8th Grade Eyes on You!

8th grade finished up the semester by painting eyes on a piece of wood. Students started project by doing an eye study and drawing human eyes in different expressions. Then students picked eyes of their choice, some human, some animals and completed a drawing. After learning about using acrylic paints students painted the eyes. Wow! What fun! This 8th grade class will be missed but we hope to see many of you in next semesters advanced art class.
