6th Grade Slab Bowl Project

6th grade is learning how to create a slab bowls from a paper template. Students have stamped designs into their clay slabs before assembling. Students learned that using a template helps an artist before creating a final piece.  Students learned about the use of stamps during the  Neolithic period of history. Great work 6th grade we can't wait to see your final glazes pieces. Happy art making! -Mrs. Phelps

6th grade painting

Sonia Delauney, an artist who loved geometric shapes and bold color combinations and patterns, was the inspiration artist for our 6th Grade painting project. Each student designed and painted a pattern of circles and lines in a color scheme they chose. We used great care to make our edges smooth and used tints and shades to give our paintings depth. Students told us they learned so much about acrylic painting! One student commented, "This project taught me patience." So true! This class is a joy to teach. --Mrs. Paradis

6th Printmaking and Drawing Groupwork

6th grade worked in teams to create beautiful scenes of trees. They first created their own relief bird print and some made relief prints of leaves, then added them to a drawing. Teamwork is not easy but students learned how to share their ideas and complete a composition.
