Project: “Friendship is a Sheltering Tree”
Grades 2nd-8th
Every year
we start all students off with a common project. This year we are focusing on
the quote “Friendship is a Sheltering Tree” by poet Samuel Coleridge.
Students
will be learning about using text in their art by practicing a variety of
styles like block, bubble curly, graffiti and a few others.
Students
will be examining artist who have used tress in their own artwork like Klimt
and his “Tree of Life” painting.
Finally
students will design their own drawing that they feel best supports the quote. We can’t wait to see what our amazing
students create!

ATTENTION 5th GRADE:
Soon we will be creating sculptures
in the style of Nevelson a famous artist. Students should be collecting
small-recycled items that are smaller then the palm of their hands. For example: bottle caps, pen caps, wire,
wood pieces, cardboard, lids to containers, old circuit boards, Legos, anything
else small that you can think of. Be
creative!
Please bring materials in a Ziploc
labeled with student name and class.
If you have any questions please email Mrs. Phelps or Mrs. Paradis at art@tcdcharterschool.com
