Printed Fish

We were so pressed with the beauty and quality of these linoleum block prints. Students first practiced drawing fish, then drew a final colored drawing. This drawing was developed into a graphite transfer to the Lino block. Students learned to carve using different size gouges, then inked, tested, revised and finalized their prints. They made watercolor backgrounds to print on and used fish made by their classmates to create an underwater community.

Magnified Drawing

These beautiful drawings show how much our students have grown in skill. They had to draw nine different views of a very small toy they brought, and do it in ink. We think they show very careful observation and high quality work!

Fourth Grade Faraway Lands

Our Fourth Grade studied how to create space and distance (atmospheric perspective) using tints and shades with tempera and using cool and warm colors with oil pastels. We talked about foreground, mid ground and background and looked at Picasso's artwork for examples of monochrome in the Blue Period. Enjoy!

2nd Grade collage hands

2nd Grade is working on combining skills like collaging, tracing and cutting to a complex shape. Students painted a watercolor background and mounted their designs. We think they turned out great, and the kids had a great time selecting pictures that show things that inspire them!
